3 New Agents Seeking Literary Fiction, Narrative Nonfiction, Kidlit, Magical Realism, YA, Romance, Memoir and more

Updated 11/2/23

Here are three new agents actively building their client lists. New agents are a boon to writers. They are actively building their lists, and will go the extra mile for their clients.

Lisa Highton is interested in a wide variety of narrative fiction and non-fiction. Jonathan Rosen represents Young Adult, Mysteries, Thrillers, Historical Fiction, Sports, Romantic Comedy, and anything with humor for that matter. He will always have an eye out for diverse voices, and in particular Jewish stories. In Non-Fiction, he is looking for Biographies and Memoirs, Pop Culture, Humor, Sports, and Journalism.

Tess Weitzner is primarily drawn to literary fiction, narrative nonfiction, horror, and middle grade, and especially that which is rooted in unreliable narrators, magical realism, interrogations of power and violence, reclamations of identity, and dark-as-night humor.

Always check the agency website and agent bio before submitting. Agents can switch agencies or close their lists, and submission requirements can change.

NOTEDon't submit to two agents at the same agency simultaneously. If one rejects you, you may then submit to another.

Tess Weitzner
 of Trident Media Group

A graduate of Middlebury College, Tess previously interned at Macmillan, The New England Review, and O/R Books. She was also a 2019 Bread Loaf student-scholar in fiction, as well as a research assistant for the author and journalist Charles Glass. And, after a long stint coaching and performing with a youth circus, she is drawn to anything that flies high, plays with fire, and embraces difference.

What she is seeking
She is primarily looking for upmarket fiction, literary fiction, and narrative nonfiction narrow and deep in scope that might play with unreliable narrators, interrogations of power and violence, reclamations of identity, or dark-as-night humor. Fresh takes on horror, magical realism, camp, and kitsch will always be met with zeal.

In the children’s space, she is looking for contemporary middle-grade and YA stories that are fun, engaging, and seemingly “quiet” that crack open larger questions or underrepresented experiences. Some of her favorites include Sandra Cisneros, Louis Sachar, Carl Hiaasen, Katherine Applegate, Kelly Yang, and Jason Reynolds.

How to Submit: For fiction, memoir, essays, or narrative nonfiction, please send a query letter and the first 10-15 pages in the body of your email to tw@goldinlit.com
